RELAY TEAM INFORMATION

Hi Team Relay Supporters

Hope to see you all back for this year's running of the Ten Mile Road Race.  Please note the following messages:

.... The High School category has been changed to an Open category.
.... There are two new categories for teams that are not attached to a school [e.g. hockey teams, friends, etc.]
.... There is a late entry date to encourage teams to enter early to ease the workload of race organizers.  Enter early and save a buck or two!
.... We encourage early entries as we have noticed more team members are interested in both the shirt and the dinner.  Early entries help us address the shirt size issue.
.... There will be a separate area for team kit pick-up.  Send one team representative to pick up the kit, computer chip, baton and patches.  This representative will be responsible for getting the numbers, chip and patches to the team members.
.... Team members are responsible for getting themselves to their start points [starting gate, 2, 4, 6, and 8 mile markers] and back to the finish line once their leg is completed.
.... Look for the balloons at the exchange point.  This point will be along the curb side of the road. Please try to position yourself as close to the curb as possible before approaching the exchange area. We ask that parents and other team members position themselves outside the area to avoid confusion and congestion.
.... It's important that runners remain courteous to other entrants.  Look over your shoulder as you enter the exchange area. Do not cut off or impede other runners. Remove yourself from the exchange area as soon as you have handed off your baton.
.... Runners will wear a computer chip on their ankle. The final [fifth] runner of the team will wear the chip. Cross the main finish line will all the runners in the event. There will not be a separate finish line for the relay teams.
.... Please note that it is the responsibility of the final runner to ensure the chip is removed at the finish line. There will be a $25.00 replacement fee charged to the school for any unreturned chips.
.... Please ensure you include all team member names, the school, the team name and the contact person [coach] and phone number on the registration form.
.... Think safety at all times. There are vehicles on the route and road crossings of which you must remain aware. BE CAREFUL!
.... I look forward to seeing you in May and welcome any suggestions you have to make the event better. If you have any questions, please call me at (807) 473-0776.
